I had a customer cry in a lap dance a few months ago. He had just gone through a tough breakup and the intimacy triggered him. I spent the rest of the time in there comforting and holding him. I actually spent a lot longer with him than he paid me for, because he really seemed like he needed to be held. That’s the only time that’s happened, but our jobs definitely resemble therapy more often than you’d expect.
A healthy relationship is one where two independent people just make a deal that they will help make the other person the best version of themselves.
